| GHQ artist and founder, Cassandra, hails from the prairie lands of Nebraska, USA, where she received much encouragement from her family to pursue her interests in art. Although as a child she insisted on drawing all over her trainers to the dismay of her parents, they supported her in her creative pursuits.
Upon completing her university degree focused on the Fine Arts, Art History and Art Education, and graduating cum laude for all of her hard efforts, Cassandra found herself at the front of the class, cast in the role of art teacher.
Two years of teaching, a hop across the pond and an illustrated children’s book later, she has finally realised her life’s ambition…”to make something that is unique and fun for people to enjoy.”
Gee How Quaint products are made by very skilled and lovely seamstresses. To date, we have on our team four talented ladies who create our fabulous bags. We value the talent of local artisans and endeavour to use the skills that are practically on our doorstep. Without their hard work, amazing talents and creativity, Gee How Quaint would not exist.
Our wonderful talent includes:
Carol - A red-headed, lovable seamstress who digs all things arty! She likes to take the hands-on approach, working with raw materials to produce both the beautiful and the practical, from curtains to jewellery, bags to cushions, paintings to poetry... and she's working on the rest.
Catherine - Although she divides her time between family and working at an alterations shop, she also has time to sew for Gee How Quaint. Catherine is known for wearing very hip eyewear and also possesses a wicked sense of humour to match.
Kerrie - Graduated from uni with a degree in fashion. She is currently designing a bloke bag for the travelling man's bits and bobs. Other interests include English History, which she is currently studying at a night class. How ever does she find the time!
Amelia - She is the newest recruit for the team. With 40 years experience sewing everything from bridal wear to goth gear, she has taken on the tiny bag sewing challenge with open arms. She has recently spent many sunny days in Cyprus and highly recommends the place.
Cassandra - Although she is usually seen with her sketchbooksm, fabric swatches and nifty screen printing machine, she can also been seen sitting behind a sewing machine. Swim bags and knicker bags are her, well, bag, however, she will quite happily hand over the tricky fiddly work to the girls as she knows they are much more sewing savvy than she.
